Yesterday was a beautiful day from start to end.
It started with church and a sermon on the fear of the Lord. It´s such an important concept - not just to remember - but to live by. It´s the beginning of wisdom and a way to understand the love of God. Without the fear of the Lord, we can get stuck in a way of sin and just want to be under the grace and mercy of God and forget about His sovereignty. My advice is to not forget about the Old Testament and focus on the New. The Old is important too.
After church, two of the boys left the orphanage with their mom and grandmother. We sent them off with prayer for the entire family and with lots of blessings and love. I got to chat with their mom a little bit during lunch, and come to find out that I am a month and a half older than her. Her sons are 12 and 10 and they are so lovable. I hope and pray that she will appreciate them and their spunkiness, continue their education, and help their faith in our loving Lord continue daily and weekly.
The afternoon was surprisingly relaxing. We watched Spain beat Italy in the soccer game. The final score was 0-0 with a win of 4-2 in penalties. Great game, and I´m not that much of a soccer fan.
The boys were all hanging out together, and we all played cards, soccer, basketball, random games, and just had a good time relaxing and enjoying each other´s company. I also got to know Adela (the house mom) a little bit better and she is such an amazing person.
After dinner, we played 4 on the couch. I haven´t played that since college group days when I was living with Ben and Mandy in our old house. Those were the days. The kids caught on to the game, but it was really hard remembering who had who, and I think that the age group was a little too low and that we had too many people. It was a good time though.
Thank you Lord for the wonderful people that you put in our lives. Sometimes, people leave for a season or for a lifetime, but every person in our life today is a gift for today - a gift for us to appreciate and love and cherish, the same way that we are loved, cherished, and appreciated by our amazing God.
