Ever since the 10th... I have been thinking about this and God has been revealing more and more things to me...
During Jack's sermon, he made the statement, "Everybody wants to be an overcomer, but no one wants to overcome anything."
Why would someone want to be an overcomer? They look strong, all together, confident, and able to do anything. God also gives some awesome promises to overcomers:
Rev. 2:7 "...To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God"
Rev. 2:11 "...He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death."
Rev. 2:17 "...To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it."
Rev. 2:26 "And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations"
Rev. 3:5 "He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels."
Rev. 3:12 "He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name."
Rev. 3:21 "To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne."
Rev. 21:7 "He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son."
Yet, there is only one thing that can cause us to overcome, and that is explained in 1 John 5:4. "For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world - our faith."
Even so, we are called to have a certain type of faith. Mark 10:15 says, "Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it."
I know and you know many incredible children that have so much faith. It's hard to fathom even comparing mine to theirs.
If I only had the faith that causes Noah to weep for his unsaved friends.
If I only had the faith that causes Jennah to pray for healing for others.
If I only had the faith that causes Allison to believe God will answer her every prayer.
If I only had the faith that causes Addison to constantly repent.
If I only had the faith that causes Eric Thomas to truly know that God hurts everytime we are.
If I only had the faith that causes children to believe in God wholeheartedly and to never question Him.
Yet, God is so incredibly good. He makes it possible for us to become overcomes and give us victory. He gives us examples in His children, He definitely reminds us of His promises, and He is the one that gives us the gift of faith. Everything comes from Him. The faith He chooses to give us helps us trust Him more. Even we are not being faithful to Him, He shows us that He is continually faithful and He is able to help us trust Him more.
Lately, I have been realizing certain things that I struggle with. I have realized that I have put myself in a peacemaker role in almost every area of my life. I have also realized that this is so not healthy and I need to make an end to it. I have had many people that have helped me with this, and God has been giving me victory over it. I pray that it will continue. He has helped me not try to rescue my mother in regards to my sister. He has helped me stand up for myself to my boss, which has caused me to get a promotion and raise. He has also helped me tell people that I'm not going to be in the middle of something and if they want to work it out, than they can communicate together. God is incredible, because I could not do this without Him showing me everytime I am about to fulfill that role or without Him giving me the strength.
Praise You Lord for giving all of us the faith that we can be overcomers. We know that maturity gets worked into us in the difficult and hard things in our lives.
Lets work on the thing that Joel talks about in his song called "Growing up to be a Child" If that's not the song title, it's definitely in the chorus. It is than that we can all become overcomers of the little and big things in our lives.
